COVID-19 case numbers almost same on Sunday

Wyandotte County reported 1,829 positive COVID-19 cases at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 21, according to the Unified Government COVID-19 website.

It was an increase of two cases since 1 p.m. Saturday, June 20. The UG’s COVID-19 test site in the parking lot of the UG Health Department at 6th and Ann had to close early on Friday because of the weather.

Outbreaks

Some of the newer locations reported on the Wyandotte County outbreak map included:

• Bonner Springs Nursing and Rehab, 5 cases, 520 E. Morse Ave., Bonner Springs, long-term care facility, date identified on June 18, case last reported on June 20.

• National Beef Packaging, 47 cases, 100 Osage Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, date identified, April 20; last known case reported, June 19.

• Pomp’s Tire, 6 cases, 1010 S. 12th St., Kansas City, Kansas, date identified, June 15, last known case reported, June 16.

• Amazon distribution warehouse, 22 cases, 6925 Riverview Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, date identified, May 1, last known case reported, June 11.

• Smithfield – Capstone Logistics, 9 cases, 2441 S. 98th St., Edwardsville, Kansas, date identified, May 7, last known case reported, June 2.

Pop-up test sites open on Monday through Friday

Pop-up test sites are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in Wyandotte County. These sites are in addition to the regular testing site held afternoons at the parking lot of the UG Health Department at 6th and Ann. The website includes information about who can receive a test.

The pop-up test sites and locations include:

• Monday, June 22: Mason Temple Church of God in Christ, 640 Washington Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Tuesday, June 23: KCKCC Technical Education Center, 6565 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Thursday, June 25: Whitmore Park, Vibrant Health, 1412 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

• Thursday, June 25: Quindaro Community Center, Swope Health Services, 2726 Brown Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
