Memorial service planned for Carl Brewer

A memorial service will be held for former Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer, who ran for governor in 2018, at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19.

The service will be at Holy Savior Catholic Church, 3000 E. 13th St. N., Wichita, Kansas.

Brewer, 63, was Wichita’s first elected African-American mayor, winning election in 2007 and reelected in 2011. Brewer visited Kansas City, Kansas, during his campaign for governor.

The service is open to the public.

The church is practicing social distancing so seating inside the church is limited. People must wear a face mask in order to enter the church.
