Rain, flooding possible today

Moderate to heavy rain with scattered storms, possibly producing flash flooding and river flooding, are in today’s forecast from the National Weather Service.

Showers may produce an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain in the region, falling on already saturated soils, according to the weather service.

River flooding is ongoing, with the Missouri River at Parkville, which covers the area of northwestern Wyandotte County and Wolcott, in the action stage.

Rain and possibly a thunderstorm are in Thursday’s forecast, with a high near 70, the weather service said. A north wind will be 3 to 7 mph. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 55. A light and variable wind will become north northwest 5 to 7 mph after midnight. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is predicted.

Friday, it will be sunny with a high near 75 and a north northwest wind of 5 to 8 mph, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 54 and a north wind of 6 mph becoming calm in the evening, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 73 and a calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon, the weather service said.

Saturday night, there is a 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., with a low of 59, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 75, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 63, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 81, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 68, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 88, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 70, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 87, the weather service said.
