Numerous ramps and lanes are scheduled to be closed in Wyandotte County this week, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Traffic on all these projects will be diverted using mobile lane closures, signs and traffic cones.
For pavement grinding and road sealing, from Monday, May 11, to Saturday, May 16, closures include:
• The two right lanes on southbound I-635 from 48th Street to K-32, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• The right two lanes on northbound I-635 from K-32 to 48th Street, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• The on and off ramps on northbound I-635 from eastbound and westbound State Avenue,
• The on and off ramps from northbound I-635 to K-32,
• The ramp from I-70 westbound to northbound I-635,
• The ramp from westbound State Avenue to southbound I-635,
• The ramps from eastbound and westbound I-70 to southbound I-635,
• The ramp from southbound I-635 to westbound I-70,
• The on and off ramps from southbound I-635 to K-32,
• The collective distributor lane and on-off ramps at westbound I-70 and 38th Street – Kaw Drive and westbound I-70 and northbound and southbound I-635,
• The on and off ramps at eastbound and 38th Street.
These will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Ramps will be open from 3:30 pm to 6 p.m.
For grading work, the closures include:
• The ramps from northbound and southbound Turner Diagonal to eastbound I-70.
These ramps will be closed on May 11 and May 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For asphalt milling the closure includes:
• Left lane at southbound Turner Diagonal Freeway over I-70.
The lane will be closed on May 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A KDOT spokesman urged all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone.
