The Kansas Highway Patrol reported an accident on northbound K-7 near I-70 at 4:26 p.m. April 13 that was preceded by a spitting incident.
According to the trooper’s report, a Chevy Impala was traveling westbound on Kansas Avenue and stopped at a stoplight at Kansas Avenue and K-7.
The driver of a Chevy Tahoe, which was following behind the Impala, began to honk at the Impala, the trooper’s report stated.
The Tahoe then pulled to the right of the Impala and the driver of the Tahoe spit on the Impala, the report stated.
After both vehicles turned right onto northbound K-7, the driver of the Impala, who was in the left lane, sped up to change lanes and get in front of the Tahoe driver, who was in the right lane, the trooper’s report stated.
The Impala then struck the Tahoe in the front right corner, causing the Tahoe’s driver to lose control of the vehicle, the trooper’s report stated.
The Impala then struck the bridge barrier over I-70 and became disabled in the left lane of southbound K-7, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver of the Impala, a 42-year-old woman from Lansing, Kansas, had no apparent injury, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver of the Tahoe, a 41-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, had a possible injury or complaint of pain, the trooper’s report stated.
