Many churches have postponed or canceled their regular events. Please check with the church office or the church’s social media page for updates. Some churches have video links to services.

Catholic church members are not obligated to attend Sunday Mass during this COVID-19 outbreak, according to an announcement from the archdiocese. Those who are ill or have been exposed to the virus are asked to stay home. Sunday Masses are continuing to be held. Many other activities and gatherings are being canceled or postponed.

Wyandotte United Methodist Church has canceled Sunday services, March 15.

Open Door Baptist Church has canceled its Sunday school program for March 15. It is holding a service Sunday, and those who are ill are asked to stay home from services. The church also has online videos on Facebook and YouTube.

Stony Point Christian Church has canceled a biscuits and gravy breakfast originally scheduled for March 15.


UPDATE: This event on March 15 has been canceled. A benefit pancake breakfast in memory of a heroic crossing guard is planned from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, March 15, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Davern Hall, 53rd and Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kansas. The funds raised at the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast will go to a scholarship fund at Christ the King School in memory of Bob Nill, a crossing guard who was killed while on duty in a traffic accident Feb. 18. He is credited with saving the lives of two schoolchildren. A taco supper and salami bingo will be held on Saturday, March 14, at Holy Family parish in Mejak Hall, 513 Ohio, Kansas City, Kansas. Sponsored by the Altar Society, the event will include a taco dinner and cold beverages, and one bingo card for $15. The event is for those over age 21.


The Keeler Women’s Center, 759 Vermont Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold “Scripture Study and Reflection,” facilitated by Heather Neds, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays. Register for the program at 913-689-9375 or register at www.keelerwomenscenter.org. The Keeler Center is a ministry of the Benedictine Sisters.


Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Sunday school will be at 9 a.m. March 8.


Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a worship service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Sunday school will be at 9 a.m. March 8.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 708 N. 4th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a rosary rally in honor of Our Lady of Fatima from 3 to 4:15 p.m. Sunday, March 8.

St. Patrick Catholic Church, 94th and State Avenue, will have fish dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. on Fridays in the church’s parish center, 9400 State Ave. Adult meals are $10 and kids meals are $6.

The vestry, the official governing board at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Kansas City, Kansas, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19. The parish will observe the fourth Sunday in the Lenten season at 10 a.m. March 22.

Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 8. Sunday school will be at 9:45 a.m. March 8, with the youth group meeting at 1:30 p.m.
