Sporting to introduce new foods at Saturday’s home opener in KCK

Sporting KC is introducing new foods to Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas, for its home opener on Saturday.

New food and beverages will be offered at Sporting Park, in addition to favorite fan foods.

Sporting KC will open the season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against the Houston Dynamo.

BRGR will serve burgers, fries and tots, a chicken sandwich and the Beyond Burger, a plant-based sandwich, in Section 129 at the stadium.

Taco Republic will operate out of its food truck and will serve tacos, chips, salsa, guacamole and margaritas in the South Stand Concourse.

American Royal Barbecue will serve pulled pork, brisket and burnt-end sandwiches, plus burnt-end nachos with molasses baked beans, cheese and onion strings, in Section 127.

Port Fonda will offer a Mexican-style cuisine inside the newly renovated Wise Power Shield Club, including chimichangas, esquite asado and roselle margarita.

Parisi Coffee will have a portable kiosk on the stadium concourse and at premium spaces in the park, with a launch of a new coffee blend line and a special-edition shandy featuring coffee, lemonade and vanilla.

J. Rieger and Co., a distillery in Kansas City, Missouri, will offer whiskey and its products in the suite levels and Wise Power Shield Club. A special collectible bottle of Rieger’s Kansas City Whiskey was launched in February, and a limited edition of Rieger’s Sporting Kansas City Whiskey is celebrating the distillery’s partnership with the soccer club.

Five other concession stands at the stadium will include Brat and Brau in Section 101, with giant brats, giant pretzels, and brat-chos; Kickin’ Chicken in Section 114, with fried chicken sandwiches, popcorn chicken and curly fries; World’s Kitchen in Section 117, with chicken and falafel curry bowls, and wraps; The Market in Section 119, with grab-and-go marketplace with subs, sandwiches, wraps, salads, protein bento boxes and cookies; and El Capitan presented by Corona in Section 122, with nachos, tacos, empanadas, margaritas and Corona beer.

Sporting KC also will launch the Sporting Value Menu on Saturday, available in the Budweiser Brew House and all concessions except The Market. The value menu will include $5 hot dogs, nachos and pretzels, and $4 popcorn at every match.

A newly remodeled Domino’s location in section 134 will serve pizza to fans, while expanding its offers to the Budweiser Brew House. A family four-pack of pizza and Coca-Cola will be available with tickets.

The East Stand beer garden, located on the concourse upstairs from the updated Hollywood Casino East Gate, will be accessible to all fans at every home match.

Children’s Mercy Park will have a technology upgrade this year, including faster WiFi, a new Sporting KC mobile app and efficient ticket scanning, according to information from Sporting KC. The stadium will also have new mother’s and sensory rooms available on the east side.
