Winter weather returns today

After a little freezing drizzle this morning, the area has a 70 percent chance of more precipitation and snow today, according to the National Weather Service.

Wyandotte County is under a winter weather advisory from Tuesday morning through midnight Wednesday, the weather service said.

A light wintry mix of freezing drizzle and light snow arrives today, changing to all light snow late this evening, according to the weather service. Another round of accumulating snowfall is in the forecast for Wednesday into Wednesday evening, the weather service said.

The temperature at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Wyandotte County was 32 degrees. Steady or slowly falling temperatures will be below freezing today, with temperatures remaining in the 20s on Wednesday, according to the weather service.

Today, there is a 70 percent chance of precipitation. Freezing drizzle is likely, possibly mixed with snow, mainly before 4 p.m., the weather service said. Today’s high will be near 32, with a north northeast wind of 13 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 28 mph. The total daytime ice accumulation will be less than one-tenth of an inch. The total daytime snow accumulation will be less than a half-inch.

Tonight, there is a 40 percent chance of snow before midnight, with a low of 23, according to the weather service. A north northeast wind of 11 to 15 mph will gust as high as 28 mph.

Wednesday, there is a 40 percent chance of snow, with a high near 29, the weather service said. A north northeast wind of 10 to 13 mph will gust as high as 18 mph.

Wednesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of snow, mainly before midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 17 with a north northeast wind of 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday, it will be sunny with a high near 34 and a light and variable wind, the weather service said.

Thursday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 24, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 36, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 21, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 38, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 27, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 45, the weather service said.
