Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, are turning red to show their support for the Kansas City Chiefs, who play in the Super Bowl in Miami on Sunday.

In downtown Kansas City, Kansas, City Hall and the nearby Memorial Hall have been illuminated with red tones at night.

At the Kansas Speedway, the pylon with race results is displaying a Chiefs logo.

And at The Legends Outlets at I-70 and I-435, there are plans for a Chiefs watch event on a big outdoor LED screen on the lawn of the shopping center on Sunday.

The Chiefs’ logo has been up at the top of the pylon at Kansas Speedway for about a week, according to Kelly Hale of the Speedway. She said she’s heard that Kansas race car driver Clint Bowyer will be attending the Super Bowl this year.

Also, the Kansas Speedway has made a friendly wager about the outcome of Sunday’s game with the Sonoma Raceway in California, she said. If the Chiefs win, Sonoma will send a package of Boudin bread products, including a Kansas City team logo made entirely of gourmet sourdough, to KC. If the 49ers win, Kansas Speedway will send barbecue from Jack Stack’s BBQ to Sonoma.

“We’re excited to be having a fun competition with Sonoma,” Hale said.

At the Legends Outlets at I-70 and I-435 in Kansas City, Kansas, fans may watch the big game on an outdoor LED screen on the Lawn at the Legends. Kickoff of the game is at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Legends Outlets is setting up Kansas City inflatables on The Lawn for fans who want to take photos during shopping center hours. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Also, KC City of Champions, a pop-up Kansas City sports apparel store at The Legends Outlets will offer official, NFL licensed merchandise during regular shopping center hours from Friday through Sunday, Feb. 2.
