The University of Saint Mary department of fine arts-music will hold its Spring Choral Masterworks Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 30, in Annunciation Chapel on the university’s main campus in Leavenworth, at 4100 S. 4th St. Admission is free.
This year’s program focuses exclusively on Gabriel Faure, with the feature presentation a performance of Faure’s delicate and ethereal Requiem Mass. The program will also include Faure’s Opus 65 motets, Ave Verum and “Tantum Ergo” as well as an arrangement of Cantique de Jean Racine performed by the USM Handbell Choir.
William Krusemark, professor of music and chair of the USM department of fine arts, will serve as conductor. USM Assistant Professor Freda Proctor will serve as organist and direct the Bells of Saint Mary Handbell Choir.
Vocal soloists include students Sarah DaMetz, Lansing; Emma Vavricek, Bonner Springs; Bailey Mortensen; Ashley Muldoon, Edwardsville; Hayley Webb; Korena Leach; Wila Figueroa; and Rob Gaslin.
