Shooting into occupied vehicle reported
Officers responded to a shots fired call about 2 p.m. Jan. 21 in the 100 block of Parallel Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

A victim stated a suspect cut the victim off, and to avoid a collision the victim swerved and wrecked the vehicle, according to the report. The victim found a bullet hole in the windshield, the report stated. There were no reported injuries.

Police vehicle involved in accident
An officer was backing up a police vehicle about 12:35 p.m. Jan. 21 in the 1200 block of Central Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. The vehicle hit a concrete wall, the report stated.

There was minor damage to the vehicle, and no one was injured, the report stated.

Forgery reported
A suspect was attempting to cash a forged check about 4:15 p.m. Jan. 21 in the 700 block of Minnesota Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The check was taken during a burglary to an auto, according to police. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

Shoplifting, illegal possession of firearm reported
Police officers were investigating a shoplifting complaint about 8:14 p.m. Jan. 21 in the 6400 block of Kaw Drive, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

According to the report, the suspect gave officers a false name and was taken into custody. Officers found a gun and illegal drugs on the suspect, according to the report. The suspect had been prohibited from owning a firearm, the report stated.

Carjacking reported on Garfield
Aggravated robbery was reported at 8:46 p.m. Jan. 21 in the 2900 block of Garfield Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Suspects blocked the victim’s vehicle with multiple vehicles, according to a statement the suspect gave to police. A suspect approached the victim with a firearm and took the victim’s vehicle, the report stated. The suspects then left.
