Area schools cancel classes because of weather

Classes have been canceled at area schools with a winter weather advisory in place for Friday, Jan. 17.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools are closed today, including schools, classes, the district office and the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Libraries closed.

The Piper Public Schools also are not having school today because of inclement weather.

Turner Public Schools have canceled school for today, also, because of the weather.

The Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Schools also are canceled on Friday because of inclement weather and possible hazardous road conditions.

The school districts here also will not have school on Monday, Jan. 20, the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Trash and recycling has been postponed a day in Kansas City, Kansas. Friday trash will be collected on Saturday, according to an announcement. However, trash collection is scheduled to go on as usual on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 20.
