Eagle Days to be Jan. 18-19 at Wyandotte County Lake Park

The 19th annual Eagle Days are scheduled Jan. 18-19 at Wyandotte County Lake Park, 91st and Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kansas.

The event will be held at the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library and at the James P. Davis Hall, both within Wyandotte County Lake Park.

Hours of the event for Jan. 18 will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and hours on Jan. 19 will be noon to 4 p.m.

There will be presentations scheduled throughout the days by Operation Wildlife about the bald eagle and also about other birds of prey.

There also will be kid-friendly crafts and eagle and waterfowl viewing. There will be binocular checkout for viewing birds along the lake.

Outdoor spotting scopes will help guests get a better view of the birds and wildlife around the lake. Visitors are encouraged to bring binoculars and cameras for optimal viewing and photo opportunities. The Operation Wildlife organization rescues and rehabilitates injured animals. The birds that cannot be released back into the wild are featured in the Eagle Days educational programs.

The event is free and open to the public, and all ages may attend.

Operation Wildlife presentation times are: Jan. 18 at Schlagle Library: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at Davis: 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Operation Wildlife presentation times on Jan. 19 at Schlagle: 12:30 p.m, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 19 at Davis: noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
