Falling temperatures, slight chance for rain and snow today

Temperatures will fall through the day as a blast of arctic air moves into the region, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 20 percent chance of light rain perhaps mixing with snow across the area, the weather service said. Most locations will see little, if any precipitation.

Any snow that develops will remain light with no accumulation expected, the weather service said.

Northwest winds gusting up to 33 mph are expected today, according to the weather service.

The wind chill could drop into the single digits or teens over parts of the region Tuesday and Wednesday morning, the weather service said.

The temperature at 8 a.m. was 48 degrees, with a wind chill reading of 43, according to the weather service.

Today, there is a 20 percent chance of rain showers before 11 a.m., then a chance of sprinkles and flurries between 11 a.m. and noon, the weather service said. It will be mostly cloudy, then gradually sunny, with the temperature falling to around 29 by 5 p.m. A west wind of 10 to 15 mph will become northwest 17 to 22 mph in the morning, with winds gusting as high as 33 mph.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 20, according to the weather service. A north northwest wind of 5 to 13 mph will become west southwest after midnight. Winds may gust as high as 23 mph.

Tuesday, it will be sunny, with a high near 38, the weather service said. A west southwest wind of 6 mph will become calm in the afternoon.

Tuesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 24 and a light and variable wind, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be sunny, with a high near 44 and a light and variable wind, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 30, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 50, the weather service said.

Thursday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low around 33, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 50, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 33, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 47, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 28, according to the weather service.

Sunday, there is a 30 percent chance of rain and snow, with a high near 39, the weather service said.
