The driver of a Ford Escape fled from an accident scene on I-635 on Dec. 4, only to be stopped later on Metropolitan Avenue, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.
The trooper’s crash log reported that a Ford Escape was on I-635 northbound just south of Metropolitan at 6:42 p.m. Dec. 4 when it veered right and struck a Pontiac Grand Prix that was on the shoulder waiting for a tow.
The trooper, who reported it as a “hit and run,” stated that the Escape fled the scene but was later located on Metropolitan.
The driver of the Escape, a 48-year-old man from Independence, Missouri, had no apparent injury, the trooper’s report stated. A 43-year-old man who was a passenger in the Escape had a possible injury and was taken to a hospital, the report stated.
The driver of the Grand Prix, a 22-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, had a possible injury and was taken to the hospital, the trooper’s report stated.
A 22-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, woman passenger in the Grand Prix had a possible injury and was taken to a hospital, according to the trooper’s report.
