Free flu shots, turkeys and coats offered
The Warm Up Wyandotte event will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Mercy and Truth Clinic at 721 N. 31st St., Kansas City, Kansas. Besides 200 free flu shots, the clinic will give away 200 turkeys and coats, until they run out. Last year, they ran out after about 45 minutes. In the afternoon, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, another 200 free flu shots, turkeys and coats will be given away at the Mercy and Truth Clinic at 11644 W. 75th St., Shawnee, Kansas. Several organizations have donated the turkeys and coats. The coats are mostly “gently used” coats. Free admission for veterans this weekend at World War I Museum and Memorial
There will be free admission for veterans and active duty military personnel this weekend at the National World War I Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri. There will be half-price general admission for the public this weekend. On display is the traveling Vietnam War exhibition from the New York Historical Society. Family story time planned
Family story time will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 9, in the craft room at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Participants will read stories, dance and sing. This program is geared to children ages 2-6.
Spanish singing lessons planned

Strawberry Hill Museum tours planned
Olde World Christmas weekend tours are planned at noon Saturday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Strawberry Hill Museum, 720 N. 4th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Library plans concert and lecture about Scott Joplin on Nov. 9
Michael Dolman, Kansas City, Kansas, native and San Francisco resident, will present a concert and lecture demonstration of Scott Joplin’s piano works at 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Scott Joplin was known as the king of ragtime. During his brief career, he wrote 44 original ragtime pieces, one ragtime ballet, and two operas. One of his earliest and most popular pieces, the “Maple Leaf Rag,” became ragtime’s first and most influential hit, and has been recognized as the archetypal rag. The piano works of Joplin are considered the American equivalent of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Inventions and Sinfonias” for keyboard.
Church to hold bingo night on Saturday
Sacred Heart parish 2646 S. 34th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a bingo night at 7 p.m. Nov. 9, with the Knights of Columbus as hosts. There will be concessions available.
