Winter weather will return to the area tonight and last on and off through Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
The main hazards will be snow and freezing drizzle the weather service said.
Most of the freezing drizzle will be overnight into the mornings, according to the weather service.
The weather service issued a winter weather advisory in effect for Wyandotte County from 10 p.m. this evening to 4 a.m. Thursday.
Mixed precipitation is expected, with a total snow accumulation of up to 2 inches and ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch, according to the weather service.
Residents probably will see slippery road conditions that may affect the morning or evening commute, according to the weather service. The bulk of the freezing drizzle is expected overnight and into the morning Wednesday and Thursday during rush hour, potentially causing issues for the commute.
Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling, the weather service said.
At 9 a.m. Tuesday, the temperature was 35 degrees with a wind chill reading of 29.
Today it will be partly sunny with a high near 40 and a north northeast wind around 6 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, there is an 80 percent chance of snow, possibly mixed with drizzle, according to the weather service. The low will be around 32 with a northeast wind of 6 to 10 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch is possible.
Wednesday, there is an 80 percent of drizzle and freezing drizzle, possibly mixed with snow before 7 a.m., then rain and freezing rain likely, possibly mixed with snow between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., then rain, possibly mixed with snow after 10 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 35 with a north wind of 10 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph. Little or no ice accumulation is expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch is possible.
Wednesday night, there is a 60 percent chance of snow, possibly mixed with drizzle and freezing drizzle, becoming all snow after midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 24 with a north wind of 6 to 9 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph. Little or no ice accumulation is expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch is possible.
Thursday, there is a chance of flurries before 1 p.m., then a chance of sprinkles and flurries between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by a chance of sprinkles after 3 p.m., the weather service said. It will be mostly sunny, with a high near 37 and a northwest wind of 6 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph.
Thursday night, on Halloween, there will be a chance of flurries before 7 p.m., with a low of 22, according to the weather service.
Friday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 43, the weather service said.
Friday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 28, according to the weather service.
Saturday, it will be sunny with a high near 44, the weather service said.
Saturday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 30, according to the weather service.
Sunday, it will be sunny, with a high near 52, the weather service said.
Sunday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 36, according to the weather service.
