Early voting begins for the Unified Government, schools and Board of Public Utilities general election on Saturday, Oct. 26, at three locations in Wyandotte County.
The general election is expected to be a test of how well individual candidates can get their supporters out to the polls, as there are no contests for president, Congress, governor or the state Legislature on the ballot.
According to information from the election office, three early voting centers will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.
The three sites and their hours:
• Wyandotte County Election Office, 850 State Ave., open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 28-Nov. 1; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2; and 8 a.m. to noon Monday, Nov. 4.
• Joe Amayo – Argentine Community Center, 2810 Metropolitan Ave., open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 28-Nov. 1; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.
• Eisenhower Recreation Center, 2901 N. 72nd St., open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 28-Nov 1; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.
Residents also may vote early by mail. Mail ballots must be returned to the election office in person by 7 p.m. Election Day, Nov. 5, or may be mailed back, postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 5, and received by the Friday after the election to be counted, according to information from the election office.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5, and voters may cast their ballots at their assigned polling places from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day.
