Early voting begins Saturday at three sites
Early voting begins for the Unified Government Commission, schools and Board of Public Utilities general election on Saturday at three locations in Wyandotte County. The sites include: Wyandotte County Election Office, 850 State Ave., open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26; Joe Amayo – Argentine Community Center, 2810 Metropolitan Ave., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26; and Eisenhower Recreation Center, 2901 N. 72nd St., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. Drug takeback day to be Saturday
Vapes and cartridges will be accepted at drop off locations throughout Kansas during National Drug Take Back Day Saturday, Oct. 26. As usual, the sites participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration-sponsored event also will accept prescription drug tablets, capsules and patches. Sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sites in Wyandotte County include CVS, 3750 State Ave.; CVS, 4645 Shawnee Drive; CVS, 950 Minnesota Ave.; and CVS, 4300 Rainbow Blvd.
Family story time planned
Family story time will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26, in the craft room at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Participants will read stories, dance and sing. This program is geared to children ages 2-6.
KCKCC women’s soccer scheduled
The Kansas City Kansas Community College women’s soccer team is scheduled to play Barton County at 1 p.m. Saturday at KCKCC, 7250 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
Rep. Davids to hold community conversation Saturday in KCK
Rep. Sharice Davids, D-3rd Dist., is launching a series of community conversations across Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District. These conversations will offer constituents the opportunity to hear directly from Davids on the issues that matter most to them and their community, according to a spokesman. Davids will hold her first community conversation from 3 to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 26, at El Centro Academy for Children, 1340 S. 30th, in Kansas City, Kansas, moderated by former KCK Mayor Carol Marinovich. The event is free and open to all residents of Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District. Halloween-themed events on Saturday
Rosedale Development Association, KU Medical Center to hold 10th annual Healthy Halloween event
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, the University of Kansas Medical Center and Rosedale Development Association will hold a neighborhood social Healthy Halloween event at the KU Medical Center’s Hemenway Building, 3901 Rainbow Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas.
The family friendly event will include games, crafts, healthy snacks, health screenings, balloon sculpting, face painting, family fitness activities, free flu shots for ages 6 and up, information booths and more. Costumes are encouraged. The event will have healthy snacks, not candy. Boo Bash to be at the Bonner Library
The Bonner Springs City Library plans its seventh annual Boo Bash from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Church plans trick-or-treat event
Casa de Alabanza Worship House, in the historic Welborn Community Church, 5217 Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a trick or treat on the front lawn from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The public may attend to receive candy, listen to music, enjoy food and refreshments.
FOP Trunk or Treat scheduled Saturday
Wyandotte County FOP Lodge 40 is planning a Trunk or Treat from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Kane Community Center, 3130 N. 122nd St., Kansas City, Kansas. The family event will include games, as well as awards for the best trunk and the best costume.
Turner library plans Spooktacular on Saturday
The Turner Community Library, 831 S. 55th St., plans Spooktacular, a Halloween program, from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The program is sponsored by the library and the Turner Recreation Commission. There will be a Trunk or Treat, games, entertainment, a haunted house and music. All of the library activities will be free, and the Turner Recreation Commission will cost tickets that can be pre-bought or purchased at the event.
Legends to hold Halloween on the Lawn event
The Legends Outlets will hold a Halloween on the Lawn event starting at 6 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1843 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas. The Lawn is located near the Yard House on the west side of the shopping center.
The Halloween-themed event on The Lawn, the new outdoor gathering space at The Legends, will feature a screening of Hocus Pocus, face painting, pumpkin decorating, photo booth, goody bags, giveaways and more.
Earlier in the day, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, there will be a family safety class held at the Lawn at Legends Outlets. The Sagasu Family Martial Arts and The Legends are joining to sponsor a safety class in support of Safehome and the iCare Movement. The class, designed for families with children ages 6 years old and up, will include safety games, tips for creating a family plan, self-defense classes and bonding. Families who attend are encouraged to make a $10 donation at the door, which will directly benefit Safehome.
