Sunny today, severe weather possible Tuesday

While today’s forecast is sunny and 85, Tuesday has a slight chance of severe weather in the afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Frequent lightning, large hail and strong wind gusts are possible on Tuesday, the weather service said.

Isolated strong wind gusts up to 40 mph to 60 mph, in addition to isolated hail up to 1 inch in diameter, is possible Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the weather service.

Many points along the Missouri River are in flood stage.

A flood warning continues for the Missouri River at Parkville, where the gauge is on I-435 over the Missouri River between Wyandotte County and Platte County. The river is in minor flood stage at this point, according to the weather service. The river was at 25.99 feet on Monday morning, where flood stage is at 25 feet. The river is expected to continue rising at this point to near 27.5 feet by Tuesday morning, then fall below flood stage on Thursday afternoon, according to the weather service.

Residents are advised to turn around and not try to drive through water on the roads.

Today, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 85 and a south southwest wind of 11 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 72 and a south wind of 8 to 11 mph, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers after 2 p.m., with a high near 85 and a south southwest wind of 8 to 14 mph, gusting to 18 mph, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low of 69 and a south wind of 6 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph, according to the weather service. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there is a 70 percent chance of showers, mainly after 8 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 79 with a southwest wind of 6 mph. Between three-quarters and an inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 70 percent chance of showers, mainly before 2 a.m., according to the weather service, with a low of 63. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Thursday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers before 8 a.m., with a high near 66, the weather service said.

Thursday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 48, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 67, the weather service said.

Friday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers after 2 a.m., with a low of 55, according to the weather service.

Saturday, there is a 50 percent chance of showers, with a high near 69, the weather service said.

Saturday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low of 53, according to the weather service.

Sunday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers, with a high near 68, the weather service said.
