More rain and storms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.
There is a chance of large hail and damaging winds and flash flooding, with an isolated tornado or two possible in the region.
Missouri River flooding also may be enhanced by the local rain. The Missouri River at Parkville, where the gauge is on I-435 over the Missouri River between Wyandotte County and Platte County, was in action stage on Saturday morning, and could go into minor flood stage later on Saturday. This part of the river is under a flood warning until Tuesday morning.
Residents are reminded not to drive through roads covered by water, but to turn around and find another route.
There is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. Saturday, the weather service said. Today’s high will be near 73 with an east northeast wind of 5 to 7 mph Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible this afternoon and evening, the weather service said.
Tonight, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 69 with a south southeast wind of 6 mph. Between three-quarters and an inch of rain is possible.
Sunday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly before 1 p.m. The high will be near 84, the weather service said, with a south wind of 7 to 13 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.
