Semi drives over camper in injury-accident on I-70

After a Kia stopped on I-70 near 57th Street because of roadway construction, a three-vehicle accident on I-70 happened.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a 2019 Freightliner truck did not see that traffic had stopped in front of him and drove over the camper that the four-door 2012 Kia was towing.

Then the 2012 Kia hit a four-door 2016 Kia that was traveling in another lane, according to the trooper’s report. Traffic was tied up on I-70 for hours.

There were two possible minor injuries in the accident at 10:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, the trooper’s report stated.

The driver of the 2012 Kia, a 67-year-old Tucson, Arizona, woman, had a possible minor injury and was taken to a hospital, the report stated.

The driver of the 2019 Freightliner truck, a 27-year-old man from St. Joseph, Missouri, had a possible minor injury, the report stated. He was not taken to a hospital.

The driver of the 2016 Kia, a 32-year-old man from Mission, Kansas, was not injured, the report stated.
