Monday: Sunny with a high of 88, Tuesday night: Possible rain

Today’s forecast from the National Weather Service is sunny and hot, with possible rain coming on Tuesday night.

Severe weather is not anticipated with the storms this week, the weather service said.

With storms pushing through areas to the north and south of Wyandotte County on Sunday night and Monday morning, high pressure will begin to build as cooler air makes its way into the area, according to the weather service.

While temperatures today will be only a little lower than Sunday, dewpoints will drop throughout the day, making it feel cooler, according to the weather service.

On Tuesday, colder air will move into the region with highs in the lower 80s and lows in the lower 60s.

The rivers in Wyandotte County currently are below flood stage. The Missouri River at Parkville, an area that includes Wyandotte County, is below flood stage and in action stage. The Kansas River at 23rd Street, where the gauge is on Kansas Avenue near the state line, is below flood stage and below action stage, according to hydrology charts.

Today, it will be sunny with a high near 88 and a west northwest wind of 6 to 11 mph becoming north in the afternoon, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be clear with a low of 63 and a north wind of 3 to 8 mph, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be increasingly cloudy, with a high near 82 and a northeast wind of 5 to 7 mph, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., according to the weather service, with a low of 65. There will be a calm wind.

Wednesday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 84 with a calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., with a low of 67, according to the weather service.

Thursday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., with a high near 87, the weather service said.

Thursday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 69, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 84, the weather service said.

Friday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., with a low of 68, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 83, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 68, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 85, the weather service said.
