Beginning Wednesday, July 17, residential trash collection routes will begin at 6 a.m. in Kansas City, Kansas, according to an announcement by Waste Management of Kansas.
Trash and recycling bins should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on collection days.
The early schedule will remain in place for the rest of this month and through August, according to the announcement.
Early schedules also apply in Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami and Linn counties in Kansas and Jackson, Clay, Platte and Cass counties in Missouri.
The statement from Waste Management cited safety of the employees as one of its top priorities.
The current 30-day outlook for the metropolitan area shows temperatures in the high 90 degrees with a potential triple-digit heat index.
