Another fireworks injury reported

Another fireworks injury has been reported by the Burnett Burn Center at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.

In a report this afternoon, KU Hospital stated that there were eight total patients seen for fireworks-related injuries from 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, through 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

That is one more patient from the number reported on Friday afternoon. There were five males and three females in all treated for fireworks injuries, with the patients ranging in age from 2 to 38 years old.

The fireworks injuries common locations included hands, eyes and chest. Mortars and sparklers caused the injuries, according to the report.

Five persons have been admitted to the hospital because of fireworks injuries, according to the report. Because of privacy concerns, the conditions of the patients and their cities of residence are not available.

Fireworks were legal only from July 2 to July 4 in Kansas City, Kansas.
