Severe weather is not expected with 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms, according to the weather service. A few strong storms are possible in the region, with hail up to quarter-size and gusty winds in the strongest storms.
Temperatures will warm up later in the week, with highs reaching the mid to upper 80s by Thursday, the weather service said. Humid conditions will raise the heat index to nearly 90 degrees.
Thunderstorms will be possible on the weekend, and severe storms cannot be ruled out at this time, according to the weather service.
Missouri River flooding continues in some cities. The Missouri River at Parkville, a gauge on I-435 which covers the Wyandotte County area, is currently in action stage, below flood stage and declining. The Missouri River at St. Joseph, Missouri, and Atchison, Kansas, is currently in minor flood stage and is declining. The Missouri River at Leavenworth, Kansas, is in action stage and declining, according to hydrology charts.
