The Turner Logistics Center agreement, originally scheduled to be voted upon at the 7 p.m. May 9 Unified Government Commission meeting, was held over until a later UG meeting.
According to UG officials at the May 9 meeting, the project, which might bring as many as 1,800 new jobs to the area, will be continued at the June 13 meeting. It was pulled off the May 9 agenda.
The $125 million logistics and distribution center will be at I-70 and the Turner Diagonal in Kansas City, Kansas, according to officials.
A new diverging diamond interchange would be built at I-70 and the Turner Diagonal as part of this project. This area is south of 72nd and State Avenue, at I-70. The current I-70 interchange is from Splitlog to Tauromee along the Turner Diagonal. The $30 million interchange project would receive a $13.8 million federal grant, with additional funding of $7.5 million provided by the local and state government, and $1.5 million from the developer, NorthPoint Development.
The project could bring 1,800 new jobs to the area, the developer said at a previous meeting. When it is built out, the project could have eight buildings and 2.7 million square feet.
