Strawberry Hill 5K Run-Walk to be April 27
The fourth annual Strawberry Hill 5K Run-Walk will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27. The race will begin and end at the Strawberry Hill Museum parking lot, 720 N. 4th, off Ann Avenue. The course will be through the streets of Strawberry Hill, including some level ground and some hills. There is a registration fee. For more information, visit http://www.strawberryhillmuseum.org.

Listening session planned on downtown KCK grocery store
A listening session on the new downtown grocery store is planned from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, second floor auditorium, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. At this event, members of the community may give their opinions on what they would like to see in a new downtown KCK grocery store.

Piper cleanup planned April 27-30
A Piper cleanup is being planned April 27-30. Sponsored by Operation Brightside, the cleanup will provide bags to volunteers and residents to clean up neighborhoods in Piper. Volunteers may gather at Piper High School at 9 a.m. April 27, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. After the end of the cleanup, bags will be picked up on Tuesday. Grinter Quilt Show to be April 27
The Grinter Friends will hold the 43rd annual Quilt Show on April 26 and 27. The quilts will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27 at the Grinter Barn, 1400 S. 78th, Kansas City, Kansas. The display at the Grinter Barn will be free and open to the public. Linda Mooney will be the guest speaker on April 27 on the topic, “Quilts from a Historical Perspective.” The presentation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Grinter Place historic museum, 1420 S. 78th, and there is an admission charge of $3 to the talk. Admission may be paid at the Grinter House door. The Grinter Friends also will display the Opportunity Quilt that is hand-quilted by the Friends of Grinter Quilt Guild at the show. Tickets will be available for $1 each. The quilt will be given away at the annual Friends of Grinter meeting in January 2020.

Barnyard Babies to be April 27 at Ag Hall
The Barnyard Babies Family Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, 126th and State Avenue, Bonner Springs. Visitors may experience a day on the farm, with baby animals, a tractor petting zoo, train rides, games, a farmers market, pedal power, with Touch-a-Truck, Mater and Lightning also a part of the event. Medications may be dropped off at drug takeback day sites
Unused medications may be dropped off today at sites throughout the area for drug takeback day. The hours of this event are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27. The goal is to get unused medications out of the hands of children and pets and away from the environment. Participating sites include CVS, 3750 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas; CVS, 4645 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, Kansas; Walmart, 12801 Kansas Ave., Bonner Springs, Kansas; and CVS, 950 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Family story time planned
Family story time is planned from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave. The program is geared to children ages 2 to 6. There will be reading, dancing and singing.

Folk dancing planned
“Programa de Folklorico” is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in Conference Room A at the South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The Spanish language program is for children, teens and adults. Lugarda Rodriguez is the presenter.

Spanish singing lessons planned
“Clases de Canto,” or Spanish singing lessons, are planned from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in Conference Room B, South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The Spanish language singing class is taught by Sandra Zamora.
