Opening day at lake scheduled for March 16
Opening day of fishing season at Wyandotte County Lake is scheduled for Saturday, March 16, weather permitting. In conjunction with the lake opening, the Leavenworth Road Association will sponsor a biscuits and sausage gravy breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 16 at the marina at Wyandotte County Lake.. The cost of the breakfast will be $10 for adults and a smaller portion at half-price for children 12 and younger. Breakfast includes two biscuits, sausage gravy, two sausage patties, coffee, milk or orange juice. The breakfast is a fundraiser for the Leavenworth Road Association.
Benefit pancake breakfast to be March 16
A pancake break will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at the Mary Ann Flunder Lodge by the Lake at Kansas City Kansas Community College, 7250 State Ave. It is a benefit for the Shepherd’s Center. The cost of the breakfast is $8 for all-you-can-eat pancakes, and the breakfast includes sausage, eggs, coffee and juice.
Democratic Breakfast to be March 16
The guest speakers Saturday at the Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast will be State Sen. David Haley, D-4th Dist., and former State Rep. Bill Reardon of Kansas City, Kansas. The Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast will meet at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, March 16, for a buffet at Las Islas Marias, 7516 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The program will begin at 9 a.m. It is the 15th anniversary of the Democratic breakfast, and cake will be served. Both Haley and Reardon attended the first meeting of the breakfast. The breakfast is open to all Democrats. The cost of the buffet is $10, or $6 for students and those on limited incomes. Those attending do not have to purchase a breakfast. Those who want to purchase a breakfast should make reservations to [email protected] by Friday, March 15.
Town Hall meeting planned
A town hall meeting with state Sen. Kevin Braun, R-5th Dist., is planned from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 16, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs.
Family story time offered
Family story time will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 16, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., in the youth services craft room. The program is geared to children ages 2 to 6. Participants will read stories, dance and sing.
Craft program to feature drawing and coloring
A craft program from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, will feature drawing and coloring. The program will be at the West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, Kansas.
