Rain is in the forecast for tonight through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. While the temperatures are warming up this week, there will be an increased likelihood of flooding to the north and east of the Kansas City area.
Minor to moderate flooding is occurring to the north of the Kansas City area, on the Platte River in Missouri. Also, some minor flooding is occurring in Missouri along tributaries of the Missouri River. Additional rainfall this week could make river flooding worse.
There are no flood watches or warnings in effect for Wyandotte County. There is a flood warning for the Missouri River at Leavenworth, north of Wyandotte County.
Today, Wyandotte County will see sunny skies with a high near 52 and an east wind of 3 to 5 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, there is a 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after 3 a.m., with a low of 40, and an east wind of 6 mph, according to the weather service. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.
Tuesday, there is an 80 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1 p.m., with a high of 52, the weather service said. A south southeast wind will be 6 to 11 mph, gusting as high as 23 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
Tuesday night, there is a 90 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 48, with a south southeast wind of 10 mph, gusting as high as 18 mph. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half-inch possible.
Wednesday, there will be a 90 percent chance of showers and a thunderstorm, the weather service said. The high will be near 64 with a south southeast wind of 14 to 22 mph, gusting as high as 37 mph. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.
Wednesday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers, with a low of 42, according to the weather service.
Thursday, there is a 50 percent chance of showers with a high near 47, the weather service said.
Thursday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 31, according to the weather service.
Friday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 43, the weather service said.
Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 26, according to the weather service.
