Exercise program for older adults to begin March 5

An exercise program for older adults will begin March 5 at the K-State Research and Extension office, 1216 N. 79th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

The class will be offered two times a week for eight weeks. It will improve strength, balance and flexibility. According to the program’s sponsors, the benefits of the program includes increasing muscle strength, lifting depression, reducing stress and reducing the risk of heart disease.

The class has two levels that will meet on Tuesday and Thursdays. The first level is for beginners, while the second level is for those who have already taken the first level.

The first level will be offered from 11 a.m. to noon, with the second level at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Class dates will include March 5, 7, 12, 14 in Room 1208; March 19, 21, 26, 29 (a Friday), April 2, 4, 9 11, 16, 18, 23 and 25 (room 1200).
