Changing weather: Temperatures in 50s today, snow possible Friday

Wyandotte County is in store for a week of all kinds of weather, beginning with a sunny day in the mid-50s today and ending with a weekend snow forecast.

A beautiful day today will give way to a change on Thursday, when a strong cold front will move in, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Thursday’s highs could be around 50, but the cold front is expected to push through in the afternoon, with temperatures dropping into the teens by Friday morning, the weather service said.

Snow is in the forecast for Friday afternoon, Friday night and Saturday, according to the weather service. The forecast calls for 1 to 3 inches of snow on Friday.

Today, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 55 and a light and variable wind becoming south 9 to 14 mph in the morning, the weather service said. Winds may gust as high as 20 mph.

Tonight, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 38 and a south wind of 10 to 15 mph, gusting to 22 mph, according to the weather service.

Thursday, Valentine’s Day, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 50, the weather service said. South southwest winds of 9 to 16 mph will become north northwest in the afternoon, gusting as high as 24 mph.

Thursday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 17, according to the weather service. A north wind of 9 to 14 mph will gust as high as 23 mph.

Friday, there is an 80 percent chance of snow, mainly after noon, the weather service said. The high will be near 23 with a northeast wind of 9 mph. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible.

Friday night, there is a 30 percent chance of snow before midnight, with a low of 14, according to the weather service.

Saturday, there is a 40 percent chance of snow after noon, with a high near 27, the weather service said.

Saturday night, there is a 50 percent chance of snow, with a low of 20, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 30, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 15, according to the weather service.

Monday, Presidents Day, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 28, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be mostly cloudy with a low of 18, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, there is a 50 percent chance of snow, with a high near 28, the weather service said.
