A bakery fire was reported at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Kellogg’s plant at 801 Sunshine Road, Kansas City, Kansas.
The fire resulted in an estimated $500,000 to $1 million loss to property, with no injuries reported, according to the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department report.
When fire crews responded, they found smoke and fire coming from the third floor of the building, according to a Fire Department spokesman.
Crews attacked the fire from inside, with heavy fire coming from the oven baking area, according to the fire report.
Truck crews accessed the roof with aerial ladder for egress and to attack the fire. Employees were evacuated from the building, according to the report.
The sprinkler system engaged and prevented further damage, according to the fire report. Ventilation was accomplished by additional truck crews. High-rise packs also were used to attack the fire.
The fire is under investigation, and the cause is undetermined, according to the report.
There were no injuries to anyone, according to the report. Several fire crews and vehicles responded to the fire.
