Trash collection has been delayed a day in Wyandotte County because of the weather, according to an announcement.
Because of icy weather, all residential and commercial route collections were suspended for Wednesday, and service will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week, Waste Management announced.
“With the current poor road conditions due to the icy weather, our primary concern is for the safety of our drivers and the public,” Paul Howe, senior manager of community relations for Waste Management, said in a news release this morning. “As a result, we are pulling collection vehicles off the road at this time.”
Wednesday routes will be collected on Thursday; Thursday routes will be collected Friday; and Friday routes will be collected Saturday. All routes should be completed by the end of the day on Saturday.
“We appreciate the understanding and patience of our customers,” Howe said.
