KCK man dies in traffic accident west of Chillicothe, Mo.

Edward R. Gault, 80, of Kansas City, Kansas, died in a traffic crash Christmas Eve on Missouri Highway 190 west of Chillicothe, Missouri.

According to a Missouri Highway Patrol news release, Gault was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Gault was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette that crested a hill at a high rate of speed, went airborne, then went off the north side of the roadway around 2:35 p.m. Dec. 24, according to authorities. The vehicle went down a ditch, hit an embankment, went airborne a second time, then overturned onto its top off the north side of Missouri Highway 190, according to the news release.

A 15-year-old Chillicothe, Missouri, boy who was a passenger in the vehicle had serious injuries and was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, according to the accident report.

The location of the accident was about eight miles west of Chillicothe, according to the accident report.

Both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts, according to the news release.
