Kansas City Kansas Community College standouts Reed Axthelm and Stylianos Papadimitriou have been named to the NJCAA All-Region VI soccer team for 2018.

Both Blue Devils were named to the All-Region second team after both were named to the East Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (NJCCC) first team.

A sophomore forward from Riverton, Wyoming, Axthelm was a member of the All-Jayhawk second team as a freshman last year and was a key member of KCKCC’s 2017 team that won the Jayhawk and Plains District championships on the way to the Blue Devils’ first ever appearance in the NJCAA Division I national tournament.

A freshman from Nicosia, Cyprus, Papadimitriou headed a strong Blue Devil defense in his first year of collegiate soccer. He was just one of three freshmen on the 10-member second team.

“We’re very happy for both,” KCKCC coach Ruben Rodriguez said. “They are both very deserving.”

The All-Region team is made up of players from both the East and West divisions of the Jayhawk Conference. Barton County, which won the 2018 Region VI championship and finished second in the national tournament, dominated the first team with six selections while East Division champion Cowley County placed three players on the first team and four on the second.
