The Wyandotte County District Attorney today charged Joshua J. Brazeal, 28 years old, last known to reside in Fort Scott, Kan., with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the Aug. 19 death of 79-year-old Geraldine Strader of Kansas City, Kan.

Brazeal was operating a 2001 Cadillac when he struck a Toyota passenger car driven by Strader at 38th and Haskell, in Kansas City, Kan., at about 4:15 p.m. yesterday. Strader died from injuries sustained in that collision.

Brazeal was also charged with the reckless aggravated battery of Brianna Marshall, who had been a passenger in the Cadillac; and with leaving the scene of a collision resulting in injury; as well as several traffic offenses, according to the district attorney’s office.

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department is investigating.

The Wyandotte County District Court issued an arrest warrant for Brazeal. Bond was set at $500,000.

Brazeal is in custody in Kansas City, Mo., the district attorney’s office said. A court date will be scheduled after he is returned to Kansas.
