A Celtic folklore lecture will be given from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Alcott Center, 180 S. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan.
Jane Nichols, who has taught a class on the topic since 1992 with the Communiversity program at University of Missouri at Kansas City, will give the lecture. She also portrays an Irish business woman with the Society for Creative Anachronism.
Topics that are expected to be covered include the four great holidays of the Celts, their major deities, and hero tales of Ireland, Wales and the Continent.
Nichols’ knitted fiber art will be on display, including a Viking rune sweater. Finger food typical of the Middle Ages will be available.
The Alcott art gallery will be open during the event. On exhibit in the art gallery are works by Isaac Tapia and Tina Donovan.
Admission to the lecture is $5 for ages 12 and older. The Alcott center is not ADA accessible.
