Halloween events are being held throughout Wyandotte County now through next week.
Here are some of the many events planned:
Halloween event planned today at West Wyandotte Library
A Halloween Spooktacular will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, Kansas. Activities include trick-or-treating at 6:30 p.m., games, craft, haunted maze and mad science lab at 6:45 p.m. and costume contest at 7:30 p.m.
Sixth annual Boo Bash to be Oct. 27 in Bonner Springs
The sixth annual Boo Bash will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs, Kansas. The event is for all ages. There will be a live disc jockey, games, snacks, storytime and other activities. Those attending may wear costumes. There will be trick-and-treats. Healthy Halloween event to be Saturday afternoon in Rosedale
A Healthy Halloween event will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the University of Kansas Medical Center’s Health Education Building, 2146 W. 39th Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The event includes games, healthy snacks, health screenings, balloon sculpting, face and pumpkin painting, family fitness activities, free flu shots for age 6 and up, and information booths. This event will have healthy snacks, not candy. Those attending may wear costumes. Parking is free in the P4 (Bluff) garage of the KU Medical Center, or residents may ride a shuttle from the bounce house and photo booth in Whitmore Park at 1412 Southwest Blvd. The event is sponsored by KU Medical Center and Rosedale Development Association. Church plans trunk-or-treat on Saturday
Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave., plans a trunk-or-treat from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.
Halloween event sponsored by Turner Recreation on Saturday
A Halloween event sponsored by the Turner Recreation Commission will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at 831 S. 55th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The Spooktacular will include a trunk or treat, carnival-style games, booths, a Halloween hunt and Haunted Hallways. Also, those attending may bring nonperishable food to be given to needy families.
Church plans trunk-or-treat on Sunday
Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th St., plans a trunk-or-treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28. The event is open to the public.
Halloween event to be Oct. 29 at Main Library
A Halloween trunk-or-treat will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library parking lot, 625 Minnesota Ave. Children may wear their costumes and receive candy. There also will be crafts and activities.
Edgar Allan Poe reading to be Oct. 29 in Bonner Springs
The Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs, Kansas, will hold a reading of works by Edgar Allan Poe at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29. Classics such as “The Raven” and “The Tell-Tale Heart” will be included. The program is for all ages, but the readings may be too intense for young children. Trunk-or-treat planned Oct. 30 at South Branch Library
A Halloween trunk-or-treat and a fire-juggling performance are planned from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Jason D’Vaude will present the fire-juggling performance.
Safe Halloween event planned Oct. 31 at Eisenhower Center
A safe Halloween event is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Eisenhower Center, 2901 N. 72nd St., Kansas City, Kansas. The event is presented by the Leavenworth Road Association, Multiply Church and Wyandotte County Parks. There will be activities, games and treats for children. The first 350 children will receive free hot dogs. Groups, businesses and organizations will be providing “treat tables” for children inside the recreation center. Alcott to hold Halloween event
The Alcott Arts Center, 180 S. 18th St., is preparing for its annual Halloween event at the Alcott from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. The theme this year is the “Wizard of Oz.” The Alcott parking lot on Oct. 31 will be decorated with scenes from the “Wizard of Oz.” Visitors will walk through the gates and follow a yellow brick road. Artist Darryl Woods will be there and will have posters for children to select. Also, Sheryl Nance-Durst will volunteer her time to do face-painting. The Unified Government’s lead paint program will hand out information about the lead paint program. Children will receive a bag of candy at the event. Sponsors, partners and donors are needed for the Halloween program. Candy may be donated, and money will be accepted for the event’s expenses. Volunteers are also needed.
