Planning and zoning items on UG Commission agenda for Thursday

The Unified Government Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the commission chambers, lobby level, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

The UG Commission also will meet for a special session at 5 p.m. Thursday at the commission chambers, lobby level. The commission will recess to the ninth floor conference room for a closed, executive session on the county administrator’s review.

Several planning and zoning items are on the 7 p.m. agenda:

• 3441 N. 51st St., a change of zone from single-family district to agriculture district for agricultural purposes, Alton Holloway.

• 5604 State Ave., a change of zone from planned apartment and planned limited business district to planned business park district for the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools central kitchen facility. Dr. Kelli Mather.

• 2205 W. 36th Ave., change of zone from planned apartment district to planned non-retail business district for a day care school, John Finnemore with Primrose Schools.

• 9837 Meeks Road, change of zone from agriculture district to single-family district, to sell the house, Andrea Weishaubt.

• 4100 Haskell Ave., special use permit for the temporary use of land to park a tow truck at a residence, Darryl Bagley, recommended for denial.

• 1604 N. 3rd St., renewal of a special use permit for used auto sales, Iikhom Saidov with Frank Motors Inc., recommended for denial.

• 534 Central Ave., special use permit for an expansion to the existing bar, Laura Summa with Chicago’s.

• 713 Osage Ave., renewal of a special use permit for an event hall.

• 3101 S. 7th St., special use permit for an AirBNB, Andrew Nehrig.

• 1719 Tauromee Ave., preliminary and final plan review for an expansion and renovation, Monsignor Stuart Swetland with Donnelly College.

• 2205 W. 36th Ave., preliminary and final plan review for a daycare school center, John Finnemore with Primrose Schools.

• 6601 Leavenworth Road, special use permit for a day care for children ages 2 to 12, Jennifer L. Rios.

• Nomination of Joan DeMoss to the Law Enforcement Advisory Board, submitted by Commissioner Brian McKiernan.

• Nomination of Cherish Cho to the Law Enforcement Advisory Board, submitted by Commissioner Jim Walters.

• Nomination of George Hurtado to the Golf Board, submitted by Commissioner Angela Markley.

• An ordinance condemning land for Pump Station 61 Force Main Improvements and directing the chief counsel to start legal proceedings to acquire land for the project. This is in the Piper area.
