Injuries reported in hit-and-run collision on I-70

Injuries were reported in a hit-and-run collision at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, on westbound I-70 near the 18th Street exit, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

According to the trooper’s report, an unidentified vehicle was merging onto westbound I-70 from southbound 18th Street, when it made a lane change, striking a GMC Sierra.

The Sierra swerved into another lane to avoid a collision, and then a Chevy Impala swerved into another lane to avoid the Sierra, striking a Subaru Crosstrek, the trooper’s report stated.

The unknown vehicle then fled the scene of the accident, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Chevy Impala, a 36-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, was injured, the trooper’s report stated. A 38-year-old passenger in the Impala also was injured and was taken to a hospital, the report stated.

The driver of the Subaru, a 45-year-old Shawnee, Kansas, man, had a possible injury, the trooper’s report stated.

The driver of the GMC Sierra, a 44-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, was not injured, the trooper’s report stated.
