The Leavenworth Road Association will meet Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Eisenhower Recreation Center, 2901 N. 72nd St., Kansas City, Kansas.
A potluck dinner and social hour will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. Those attending may bring a covered dish.
The guest speaker will be District Attorney Mark Dupree.
The Leavenworth Road Association also is preparing for a fundraiser taco dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the FOP Hall, 7844 Leavenworth Road. The taco dinner will be served buffet-style. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger.
Lou Braswell, executive director of the Leavenworth Road Association, said the LRA will not have a parade this year, and the taco dinner is taking the place of its annual fundraiser.
She said the UG is currently milling Leavenworth Road from 59th to 63rd streets, preparing to repave it. Motorists are still able to drive on it, she added.
With the roadwork on Leavenworth Road, and the construction underway of a new school at Welborn Elementary School, where the parade traditionally has judges and parking for the marching bands, the decision was made not to hold a parade this year, she said.
