Heavy rain possible Tuesday, Wednesday

Rain is in the forecast every day through Saturday, with heavy rain possible today and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A frontal boundary moves into the region Tuesday afternoon, bringing widespread showers and storms, the weather service said. This boundary will slowly push through the area, allowing prolonged rainfall to fall over the area.

Flash flooding is possible, as well as river flooding, because of this prolonged area of rainfall, according to the weather service. From 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible in areas to the north of Kansas City. Wyandotte County is not under a flash flood or a flood watch today.

Today, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 83 with a south wind of 9 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 29 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Tonight, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 71 with a south wind of 6 to 9 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 80, the weather service said. There will be a south wind of 5 mph. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 a.m. The low will be around 68 with a northeast wind of 5 to 7 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is expected.

Thursday, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, with a high near 76, the weather service said. The low will be around 68 with a northeast wind of 6 to 8 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Thursday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 67. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Friday, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 75, the weather service said.

Friday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be 66.

Saturday, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 76, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly cloudy with a low of 64, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 80, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 55, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 82, the weather service said.
