Another hot day; storms possible in afternoon and evening

Today temperatures will reach a high of 92 with a heat index as high as 101, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe storms will be possible, mainly after 1 p.m. today and in the evening, the weather service said.

The main threats will be from damaging winds and large hail, however, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, according to the weather service.

The storms will be capable of producing very heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flash flooding, the weather service said.

Today, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures reaching 92, the weather service said. A south wind of 8 to 16 mph will gust as high as 28 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected during the daytime, but an inch of rain is possible at night.

Tonight, there is a 70 percent chance of precipitation, mainly before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 65, with a south southwest wind of 8 to 13 mph becoming north after midnight, and winds could gust up to 18 mph. Between three-quarters and 1 inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 79 and a north northeast wind of 7 to 9 mph, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 64 with an east wind of 6 mph.

Thursday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., with a high of 86 and a south southeast wind of 5 to 10 mph, the weather service said.

Thursday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 73, according to the weather service. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Friday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 89.

Friday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 75, according to the weather service.

On Saturday, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 88, the weather service said.

Saturday night, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 71, according to the weather service.

Sunday, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 87, the weather service said.

Sunday night, the low will be around 71 with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Monday, Labor Day, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 87, the weather service said.
