Fundraiser 5K run planned to benefit families of slain deputies
The Gone But Not Forgotten 5K will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at 2810 Metropolitan Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The fundraiser will benefit the families of slain Deputies Patrick Rohrer and Teresa King. The event is sponsored by Metro24Fitness and the Argentine Betterment Corp. Show ‘N Shine Truck and Car show planned July 28
The Show ‘N Shine Truck and Car Show is planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, 126th and State Avenue, Bonner Springs. There will be plaques and door prizes, top 60, and best of show. Also planned are living history demonstrations and train rides. The event is for all ages. Family story time planned
Family story time is planned from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave. The event is in the youth services craft room. Children will dance, sing and read stories. The event is for ages 2-6.

End-of-summer reading party planned
The Mobile Library Green Route of the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library will hold an end-of-summer reading party from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Genesis Ridge.

‘Wind in the Willows’ plays at the Alcott
“The Wind in the Willows” is at the Alcott Arts Center, 180 S. 18th, Kansas City, Kansas, at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28, and Sunday, July 29. The famous children’s story by Kenneth Grahame is adapted for the stage by Mike Kenny. This is Alcott’s summer youth production. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children. It is produced by special arrangement with Plays for Young Audiences. The director is Katya Mason, and the co-director is Mark “Antony” Fletcher. The Alcott Arts Center is not yet ADA accessible. Sporting KC to take on FC Dallas Saturday in KCK
Sporting Kansas City (9-5-6) in third place, will meet FC Dallas (11-3-6) at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. ESPN will televise the match live nationally, while radio broadcasts are airing on Sports Radio 810 WHB in English and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 in Spanish. The match will be streamed live on WatchESPN, with live updates from Sporting KC Uphoria. A limited number of tickets for Saturday’s match are available at SeatGeek.com, and the first 10,000 fans through the stadium gates will receive a free cooling headband courtesy of match sponsor Dairy Farmers of America. Unbeaten in 10 straight home games across all competitions, Sporting KC will look to move within three points of FC Dallas at the summit of the Western Conference standings.
