Wyandotte County 4-H’ers win first-place in national BB gun tournament

The Wyandotte County 4-H Shooting Sports BB gun team returned last weekend from Rogers, Arkansas, with a first-place national trophy.

In a close contest, the Wyandotte County team won by 1 point over a team from Pierre, South Dakota, which had won the competition two years in a row.

The Wyandotte County team included eight BB gun competitors, with five members and two alternates, plus a returning competitor in the champions’ match. The youth are from 11 to 15 years old and have two to seven years’ experience.

Fifty-six teams from throughout the nation competed in this event.

The Wyandotte County 4-H Shooting Sports program has a BB gun booth at the Red Barn at the Wyandotte County Fair, which runs through Saturday, July 14.
