Interim Fire Chief Kevin Shirley retires

Thursday was the last day of Kansas City, Kansas, interim Fire Chief Kevin Shirley’s six-month contract as the fire chief for Kansas City, Kansas. Shirley came out of retirement to serve as interim fire chief, and said he will go back into retirement. Shirley received applause at the UG Commission meeting Thursday evening. UG Administrator Doug Bach on Thursday evening named Jack Andrade, senior assistant chief of logistics for the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department, as acting fire chief until the UG makes a decision on the next fire chief.
