An air quality orange ozone alert has been issued for Monday, and temperatures are expected to reach a high of 94. Hot, humid weather is in this week’s National Weather Service forecast.
Ozone is expected to be the primary pollutant today, and residents and businesses are asked to avoid activities that lead to ozone formation, according to the Mid-America Regional Council. They should avoid refueling vehicles or topping off when refueling, idling unnecessarily and using gasoline-powered lawn equipment.
Residents are asked to car pool, bike to work, delay or combine errands and use water-based paints and cleaners. Residents should limit strenuous activities with special attention to the very young and those who have pre-existing respiratory conditions.
