Fireworks linked to house fire overnight

A fire overnight at 83rd and Ella in Kansas City, Kansas, was linked to a fireworks trash pile.

A fire apparently caused by improper extinguishing of fireworks damaged a home Tuesday night near 83rd and Ella in Kansas City, Kansas.

The fire apparently was started by a fireworks trash pile on the side of the house, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department.

Early estimates set the damage at $150,000 to the home, the spokesman stated.
