The election date for the renewal of the public safety and infrastructure sales tax will be considered at Thursday’s Unified Government Commission meeting.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, meeting of the Unified Government Commission at the Commission Chambers, lobby level, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.
The UG Commission is being asked to put the three-eighths cent sales tax renewal on the Aug. 7 primary election ballot. The sales taxes collected through this initiative go toward public safety and neighborhood infrastructure. The three-eighths cent sales tax initially passed in 2010 with 70 percent of the vote.
Also on Thursday’s agenda is approval of an amendment to the development agreement for the Legends Apartments and Garage. This item includes the garage and West Lawn development agreement at the Legends.
A public hearing is planned during the 7 p.m. meeting April 26 on the 2017-2021 Five-Year Consolidated Plan including the Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy for the Park Drive Neighborhood.
Also on the agenda is an amendment to the master equipment lease-purchase agreement; and an ordinance condemning land for the construction of the Hutton Road Phase 2 Cleveland to Leavenworth Road project.
Also, there is a request for staff and the Historic Northeast Midtown Association to form a steering committee to submit a request for grant funding to the Groundwork Trust.
Also scheduled is the presentation of MS4 Youth Awards to students from Piper Middle, Rosedale Middle and Harmon High schools.
